Metergrid Raises €2.7 Million in Seed Funding to Expand Tenant Electricity Operations

Metergrid, a pioneering proptech startup specializing in tenant electricity solutions, has made a significant stride in its mission to revolutionize the energy landscape. The company recently announced the successful closure of a €2.7 million seed funding round. This investment round was led by 468 Capital, a prominent venture capital firm, and featured notable contributions from renowned footballer Mario Götze, the Tiny Supercomputer Investment Company, and Mätch VC from Baden-Württemberg.

The newly acquired capital is earmarked to fuel Metergrid’s expansion efforts, which are focused on providing clean, affordable, and decentralized energy to the 44 million residents residing in multi-apartment buildings across Germany.

Metergrid’s innovative software platform empowers landlords in Germany to become electricity producers by harnessing solar energy. It simplifies the intricate process of distributing the generated power to tenants or the national grid, opening up new revenue streams for property owners and making electricity more cost-effective for residents. This approach also aligns with global climate objectives, emphasizing the significance of decentralized energy solutions like Metergrid.

Julian Schulz, Founder and Managing Director of Metergrid, highlighted the pivotal role of decentralized solutions in achieving ambitious climate targets. He stressed the importance of engaging multi-apartment building residents throughout Europe and expressed gratitude for the trust shown by their new partners. This influx of funding will enable Metergrid to extend its reach, providing even more tenants with access to green electricity.

Metergrid operates as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, facilitating tenant electricity projects for private landlords and SME real estate firms. Their end-to-end solution, bolstered by a robust partner network, positions them as a front-runner in Germany’s tenant electricity market.

Despite its relatively short time in the market, having been established in 2020, Metergrid has made substantial progress. The company anticipates achieving a ‘seven-figure’ annual turnover and serving approximately 25,000 tenants with green tenant electricity by the year’s end. This rapid growth is propelled by increasing demand from landlords and tenants, alongside solar installation mandates and legal advancements in regions such as Baden-Württemberg, Hamburg, and Berlin.

Metergrid’s ambitious vision and the support of its strategic partners pave the way for a greener, more sustainable energy future, offering hope for a brighter and c
