Germany-based Cabin Rental Startup Raus Secures €8.5M in Funding for Expansion and Innovation
Germany’s Raus, a trailblazing cabin rental startup known for its immersive nature retreats, has successfully raised over €8.5 million in a recent funding round. Spearheaded by ROCH Ventures, the round also saw participation from Rockaway Ventures, Dupuis Investment, existing investors like Speedinvest and 10x Founders, and contributions from the startup’s founders.
This funding comes at a pivotal moment for Raus as it gears up for expansion into Austria, consolidates its European presence, establishes more community locations, enhances its proprietary technology, and develops new immersive nature products and services. Notably, the company has introduced a groundbreaking concept, the Cabin Model 2.0, featuring a lighter construction phase, modular stairs, advanced technology, and enhanced panoramic views.
In a strategic move, Raus has secured an asset-backed lending facility from German Varengold Bank, aimed at supporting the scaling of the brand. The startup, founded in October 2021 by Julian Trautwein, Christopher Eilers, and Johann Ahlers, currently offers over 50 cabins in nine federal states across Germany. This summer, they unveiled their first upscale nature resort, Lodge am See, situated in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve between Hamburg and Berlin.
Raus has gained significant traction over the past year, reporting a remarkable 500% growth in revenue year over year, a fivefold increase in the number of guests compared to 2022, and a threefold rise in new booking volume fueled by escalating guest demand.
Julian Trautwein, co-founder and CEO of Raus, expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing their commitment to addressing critical challenges in the travel industry while catering to the enduring demand for conscious and mindful living.
With the total funding now surpassing €14.5 million, Raus continues to disrupt the travel industry with its sustainable and self-sufficient cabin model, running on solar power, equipped with composting toilets and fresh water tanks. The startup collaborates with landowners, offering them a share of revenue or leasing space, while also providing opportunities for upsells like local breakfast packages and activities.
The future looks promising for Raus as it embarks on the next phase of growth, guided by a strong vision and a commitment to redefining nature-focused retreats in the travel landscape.
